A million reasons for hope
The extended lockdown is challenging. Even more for someone who lacks the means to afford basic necessities. That’s why, together with Yum! Foundation, we have launched 'Feed a Million' - a pledge to provide 1 million meals to migrant workers and daily wagers.
To cement our commitment, we have teamed up with ResponseNet and Smile Foundation to supply kits of essential food and daily-hygiene items to migrant workers and daily wagers during these tumultuous times.
We may not be saving lives. We may not be changing the world either. But what we are doing is supporting those who are. It has been a privilege and an honour for us to be able to pledge more than 10,000 Thank You Meals to healthcare workers across Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
The safety and well-being of our team members, as well as our customers, is out topmost priority. That's one of the reasons why our restaurants are serving a limited menu - to ensure proper social distancing. This is in addition to our existing hygiene and safety standards: intensified and regular sanitization of all surfaces, regular temperature checks across all restaurants, wearing masks and more.
An Employee Medical Relief Fund has been set up/put in place, to provide financial support for KFC team members at the company and franchise-owned restaurants all across the world, who may be diagnosed with, or who are caring for someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
Our country has been suffering from a health emergency much before COVID-19.
Each year countless children lose their lives to this. That’s why over the years we have made it our life’s mission to spread the message of hope and feed underprivileged children with the help of our customers.
We believe in practicing what we preach. Therefore, as the world around us struggles to combat the dire effects of the COVID-19, YUM! Brand's CEO David Gibbs volunteered to forego his salary for the entire year. With this gesture, Yum! Brands reinforced their resolve to combat the impact of the COVID-19.
Q: | How are the million meals being distributed? |
A: | We have joined forces with our able partner - ResponseNet – who will undertake the distribution of kits of essential food items to communities in need in the identified regions. |
Q: | Which hospitals are you serving meals to? |
A: | Our frontline healthcare practitioners are doing everything they can to make the world a safer and healthier place for us all. In our effort, we are supporting hospitals that are actively working on COVID-19 detection & treatment across 5 cities - Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata. |
Q: | What is KFC doing for the safety of their staff? |
A: | Our team members are our pride and we will do everything we can to keep them safe and healthy. Keeping this in mind, we have carried out rigorous hygiene and safety precautions across all KFC restaurants. From increased sanitation on all surfaces, daily temperature checks for our team members, and providing them with sanitizers, to giving our staff the power to opt-in to come to the restaurant, and full salaries, we have taken all steps to support our teams across the country. |
Q: | Is KFC providing healthcare to their employees? |
A: | It is our topmost priority to ensure the safety of our family.
